WHAT HAPPENED?
A bid for continental glory on German soil is due to get underway on June 14, with Italy aiming to defend the crown that they captured at Wembley Stadium back in 2021. There will be plenty of superstar performers on show, with evergreen Portuguese forward Ronaldo still going strong at 39 years of age.

WHAT CAPELLO SAID
Ronaldo has been impressing in the Saudi Pro League this season, passing the 40-goal mark once again, but former Real Madrid and Juventus boss Capello has said of question marks over the five-time Ballon d’Or winner: “There are two players who make the difference, Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe. And we will have to see how the year in Arabia has been for Cristiano.”

Capello, who led England to the 2010 World Cup, considers the Three Lions to be favourites for Euros glory, with Real Madrid sensation Bellingham leading the way. He added on seeing the 20-year-old midfielder make a stunning impact in his debut season at Santiago Bernabeu: “It is a surprise that an Englishman has triumphed so soon in La Liga.”
